Reglobalization: Technology and Development
摘要
We present the notion of reglobalization in the face of deglobalization and slowbalization, and even traditional globalization. Our argument is that reglobalization is a new form of globalization that is more balanced. After a short slowbalization period, the world has faced an even stronger trend of deglobalization with the COVID−19 crisis and the great financial contraction of 2008. Our argument explores the implications of technology and development on this particular notion of reglobalization. Our research question is to frame reglobalization within the field of technology and development and how these concepts intersect with these global trends in the political domain. We present the political aspects associated with these new trends, namely, how governments and institutions respond to these shifts. Last but not least, we present the trends of the Global South within this context and infer its challenges and opportunities are within its role in Global Governance. Finally, we conclude by presenting some possible global trends and forecasts.
