This chapter describes some examples of applications of artificial intelligence in social sciences. We first present an overview focusing on types of tasks, from data extraction from documents to predictions and recommendations. We also mention tools related to work design and workflows. Then, we focus on some specific branches of social sciences and discuss some examples of applications, as well as some of the difficulties we encounter to build AI systems. In particular, we focus on work management, public administration, social services, and criminal justice. A brief section on AI in economics closes the chapter.
