This chapter showcases the work by Sharif et al. (Proceedings of the 26th international ACM SIGACCESS conference on computers and accessibility, ASSETS ’24. Association for Computing Machinery, New York, 2024) on understanding and reducing the challenges visualization creators experience with making data visualizations accessible to screen-reader users. The discussion on the findings of Sharif et al.’s survey from the previous chapter continues in this chapter. Further, in-depth findings from the interviews with visualization creators are presented. The chapter also examines the design and evaluation of five interventions created to reduce creators’ challenges with data visualization accessibility. Additionally, the chapter includes two exercises for readers to further reflect on their experiences as visualization creators and interact with the interventions discussed in the chapter.
