Touch-Based Interaction
摘要
This chapter provides insights on touch-based interaction techniques, such as Braille and 3-D printing, used to make data visualizations accessible to blind and low-vision users. Specifically, I discuss research works for various haptic devices, including 3-D printing, smartphones, and touchpads. Further, multiple kinds of haptic feedback are examined, including force feedback and multimodality. Additionally, use cases for incorporating touch-based interaction techniques are presented in contrast with use cases when these techniques may not be beneficial. The chapter concludes with two exercises for readers to familiarize themselves with the utility of touch-based interaction as an accessibility measure.
