In this chapter, a comprehensive literature review was done to present a state-of-the-art understanding of fresh AAM properties. This includes a deep discussion of the reaction kinetics of these alternative cements and the effect of precursors, activators, admixtures, as well as the preparation and mixing conditions on their fresh properties. Different approaches to improve the workability of AAMs are summarized and novel applications of AAMs with advanced rheological behavior have been presented. Finally, future perspectives are illustrated according to the current progress in the field.
