There is a myth that countries cannot grow their economies without consuming more energy. It may be true in some places and historic times, but most developed countries today have decoupled economic growthEconomic growth from energy consumption. How has this been achieved: by developing more energy-efficient technologies and by implementing policies to encourage their use. This suggests the following good advice: before investing in that next big power plant, power companies and regulators should consider investing in energy efficiencyEfficiency (Energy Efficiency) and distributed energy or “grid edge” resources.
