In this chapter, we begin by defining genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and explaining what they are and what they are not. Then, we explore in detail how GMOs are constructed using recombinant DNA. We focus on restriction enzymes and plasmids, discussing their roles in GMO production. Finally, we present several interesting case studies, addressing some common concerns about using GMOs.
