Assessment of the safetyof water intakes is an element of Water Safety Plans. It is required by Directive (EU) 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The measure of the loss of safety is risk. Risk analysis covers threats within the water supply system, the occurrence of which may lead to deterioration of water quality or interruptions in water supply. The paper presents a risk analysis for a surface water intake located in the Podkarpackie region. The source of water is the Wisłok River. Based on hydrological calculations, the proposed range of the protection zone was determined, covering the area of the 12-h water inflow to the intake. In this area, point, line and area threats were identified. For the identified threats, a risk analysis was carried out using the matrix method. The analysis showed that one of the greatest threats to the functioning of the analyzed water intake are seasonal changes in the quality of raw water. The results indicate the need to cover the water intake and the 12-h water inflow area with a protection zone and to introduce orders and prohibitions to protect the quality and quantity of water resources.
