Since the human cost of war spans generations, understanding the needs of those involved in the survivor’s recovery process is essential for social work practice. In recent decades, the benefits of providing trauma-informed care have been explored across various disciplines. However, gaps in service delivery, including insufficient support for providers and their effects on survivors, remain under-researched. In this chapter, I present findings from my 2020 research study, “trauma-informed, culturally based intervention” (TICBI), in which I investigated service gaps resulting from funding cuts and increasing demand for services, illustrated by the stories of service providers, as well as the need for TICBI. This chapter will discuss the challenges faced by service providers who are overwhelmed and overworked due to rising workloads and a lack of support, along with potential solutions to address these issues, including self-care.
