Overheating in residential buildings during summer are an increasing problem. Future climate will be warmer. Hence the problem is likely to grow. Furthermore, requirements regarding accepted indoor temperature have been made stricter in Sweden. This paper investigates different measures to maintain the indoor temperature at acceptable temperature levels. The study conducts dynamic simulations for different HVAC de-signs, operating strategies and different user behaviors. The results show that the stricter requirement in Sweden has a lower effect compared to the possible effects of different measures. The most effective measure is to enable air, even if occupants are not at home or not awake. More investigation should be conducted, including different climate scenarios and more measures for keeping the indoor climate acceptable.
