The chapter considers the task of assessing the socio-economic state of the region, analyzes the main purpose of the assessment and provides a scheme of the region management system. The main stages of the decision-making process in relation to the state of the region are given, the peculiarities of the assessment requirements are mentioned. The most frequently used methods for assessing the state of the region are mentioned, the most promising method of assessment—intellectual methods—is highlighted. Haken’s model is chosen as an intellectual method for experimental evaluation as a pattern recognition problem. The main stages and key features of the method are considered. The important criteria for assessing the socio-economic condition of the region using Haken’s model are noted. The description of the process of data preparation for analysis is given, as well as the main characteristics of the regions and fragments of the formation of the values of the reference vectors’ features. Examples of assessments of the state of regions in the format of graphs for two test vectors are given. Explanations of the recognition results for each of the vectors are given, and conclusions are drawn about the applicability of the Haken model for assessing the socio-economic state of the region, the key feature of the study given in the chapter is highlighted, taking into account technological parameters in the assessment.

摘要
