Indigenous people with disabilities face barriers that limit their access to land and their participation in community life. Although legal frameworks exist that recognize their rights, these rights are not yet fully guaranteed in Indigenous communities. In villages in Oaxaca, Mexico, where access to land depends on fulfilling community roles, people with disabilities see their access to communal lands affected, as they are often excluded from these roles. This chapter analyzes the experiences of Indigenous people with disabilities from two Indigenous communities in Oaxaca: Santa María Tlahuitoltepec and Tamazulápam del Espíritu Santo Mixe. The goal is to contribute to the construction of inclusion processes by the community logic in these sociocultural contexts.
