Immobilizing laccase onto agro-industrial wastes as support materials has many benefits, including increased stability and preservation of laccase activity and functionality. This system has proven to be efficient in removing a wide range of contaminants. This study critically reviews the potential agro-waste candidates for hosting laccase including peanut shells, wheat straw, maize starch, bagasse, green coconut fiber, almond shells, and rice straw. The common target contaminants have also been discussed. The immobilization of laccase on these waste types seems to be an efficient technique for significantly improving its stability and viability.

摘要

Immobilizing laccase onto agro-industrial wastes as support materials has many benefits, including increased stability and preservation of laccase activity and functionality. This system has proven to be efficient in removing a wide range of contaminants. This study critically reviews the potential agro-waste candidates for hosting laccase including peanut shells, wheat straw, maize starch, bagasse, green coconut fiber, almond shells, and rice straw. The common target contaminants have also been discussed. The immobilization of laccase on these waste types seems to be an efficient technique for significantly improving its stability and viability.
