The Formation of Eco-Imagination Through Artistic Expression, According to Peter Fonagy’s Process of Mentalization
摘要
The purpose of my contribution is to briefly illustrate some meaningful initiatives, which can constitute interesting examples of eco-imagination through artistic expression, with a view to eco-sustainability. In creative activities, action, words and gesture become in fact tools for investigating one’s own internal life; there is also the promotion of a greater awareness of the self, through a process of becoming aware of one’s own expressive potential. With refer to the mentalization process developed by Peter Fonagy—which is defined as “having one’s mind in mind” and connotes the imaginative mental activity that leads to perceive and interpret one’s own and others’ behaviors as the result of internal and intentional mental states, desires and feelings—I will present some social proposals which will give an idea of the richness of the current panorama in this regard.
