This study offers optimization techniques for energy usage in NB-IoT devices, with the main emphasis on integrating the Extended Discontinuous Reception (eDRX) algorithm. eDRX allows devices to stay in a low-power sleep state for a longer period before waking up for network connectivity, only as and when needed. This is a technique for overcoming significant obstacles to IoT deployments in remote or hostile geographies by allowing devices to last much longer on battery power. The research also provides a comparative analysis of eDRX against other power management mechanisms and shows its energy efficiency and operational stability superiority. The research validates the development of sustainable and scalable IoT solutions.
