The 1927 Atlas of Selected Regions of the Milky Way started with Barnard’s initial 1919 list of 182 dark nebulae, which he numbered from 1 to 175 with 7 subcategories of 44a, 67a, 83a, 84a, 117a, 119a, and 131a. Frost and Calvert in compiling objects for the 1927 Atlas added further objects as numbers 201–370. They provided no Barnard Object listings for numbers 176–200 even though it was apparent from Barnard’s notes there were several other dark nebulae he wished to include in his list but did not get around to officially numbering them or otherwise documenting them. There are regions on several charts with outlines of dark nebulosity but no numbering. Later Dobek also documented 24 dark nebulae as good candidates for the missing Barnard Objects 176–199 in addition to adding an interesting dark region he calls Neptune’s Trident as Barnard 200. These were first presented in our book The Barnard Objects-Then and Now (Springer-Nature 2023). Table 3.1 summarizes these objects giving their approximate J2000 coordinates, their size, any important descriptor for the object, and any possible modern name for the object.
