Food security remains a critical global challenge, increasingly threatened by climate change, population growth, and supply chain disruptions. The emergence of Food Industry 4.0 offers transformative solutions through advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and big data analytics, among others. These innovations enhance food production, optimize supply chains, improve traceability, and promote sustainable resource use. This chapter explores how Industry 4.0 technologies contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2)—Zero Hunger—by increasing efficiency, reducing food losses, and strengthening the resilience of food systems. Drawing on a structured review of peer-reviewed publications indexed in Scopus, the chapter analyzes how these technologies drive improvements across agriculture, supply chain management, and food distribution. The findings demonstrate that the integration of AI, IoT, blockchain, big data, and other related technologies, significantly boosts agricultural productivity and supply chain efficiency. Together, they create a smart, adaptive food system capable of withstanding economic and environmental uncertainties. Introducing the concept of “Food Security 4.0”, this chapter highlights the transformative potential of combining advanced technologies to build a more sustainable, resilient, and intelligent global food system aligned with SDG 2. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, data security risks, and infrastructure limitations must be addressed to enable broader adoption.
