Coercive Control and Teenage Intimate Relationships
摘要
This chapter will explore legal responses to coercive control within teenage romantic relationships. It will start with a summary of what we know about abuse within adolescent dating relationships and how this fits in with the extensive literature on domestic abuse within adult relationships. The chapter will then explore the legal responses to this phenomenon. The chapter, using the law in England as an exemplar, will argue that while there are significant overlaps with domestic abuse between adults, the traditional responses from the adult context are of little use in cases of abuse within teenage dating relationships. We need to develop bespoke legal remedies and non-legal interventions, designed to target the special features of domestic abuse within teenage relationships.
