Using South Africa’s official 30-Year Review process as a primary source, this chapter evaluates democratic progress in governance, economic growth, state capacity and social transformation. It draws attention to achievements and persistent challenges in selected thematic areas of South Africa’s National Development Plan, namely state capacity, economy, societal transformation, land reform, the environment, safety and security and international relations. The analysis is grounded in policy review and performance evaluation, offering recommendations for institutional reform and strategic planning aimed at national renewal.
