In September 2016, I commenced my doctoral journey, focusing on Kurdish diaspora literature, particularly works by Kurdish authors writing in English, which I introduced in earlier chapters. At the time, this emerging body of literature was largely understudied, with only a handful of journal articles dedicated to a few of these writings. Since then, this body of literature has grown significantly, with the publication of several new works. Yet, when I first embarked on this research, I often found myself navigating uncharted scholarly terrain, piecing together fragments of literary expression that had yet to receive academic recognition. The absence of substantial critical discourse on these works reinforced my commitment to amplifying Kurdish voices in literary studies. It was both an intellectual pursuit and a deeply personal endeavour—one that resonated with my own experiences of language, displacement, and cultural identity.
