In the preceding chapter, I analysed the concept of identity and identity preference in the African context and in African-European historical and contemporary relationships. The identity problem has spilled over into the domain of migration and it has complicated the problem of migration in various negative ways. For instance, it is the fundamental reason for discrimination against African migrants both in Africa and in Europe.
