Carbon neutrality, the equilibrium between anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and their removal, has become a cornerstone of global efforts to combat climate change and achieve a sustainable future. This chapter examines the social and economic dimensions of carbon neutrality, with a particular emphasis on the critical role of forestry. Integrating sustainable practices and carbon offset strategies serves as a vital tool in addressing both environmental challenges and socio-economic transformations. The chapter begins by examining the social implications of carbon neutrality, focusing on the shift toward sustainable consumption patterns and the adoption of low-carbon technologies in everyday life. It discusses community-level transformations through green job creation, skill development, and active participation in afforestation and renewable energy initiatives. These changes emphasize the potential for fostering equitable and inclusive societal progress. On the economic front, the chapter delves into the emergence of a green economy driven by renewable energy and forestry. It also evaluates the green jobs. The analysis also addresses sectoral shifts from traditional energy sources to renewable energy, the role of forestry in carbon offset mechanisms, and the disparities in advocating for economic policies that support low-income economies. The chapter underscores forestry’s multifaceted role in achieving carbon neutrality through carbon sequestration.
