Evidence-Based Maintenance Optimization for Medical Ventilators: A Multivariate Analysis of Maintenance Strategies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of two maintenance strategies for medical ventilators: component replacement (per manufacturer guidelines) and parameter verification (reduced-frequency maintenance). We compare the operational parameter distributions of 48 ventilators of “El Cruce” hospital. Results demonstrate that parameter verification at extended intervals (beyond manufacturer recommendations) maintains calibration compliance. These findings align with evidence-based maintenance frameworks proposed by Wang et al. 2013, supporting the optimization of clinical engineering practices without compromising patient safety.
