3D Visualization Tool for Anatomo-Semiological Analysis of Epilepsy

This study presents the development and implementation of a custom module for the 3D Slicer platform, aimed at integrating clinical semiology of epilepsy with anatomical brain segmentation. Developed within the framework of the Regional Epilepsy Surgery Program (PRCE), the tool seeks to enhance the localization of the epileptogenic focus in patients with refractory epilepsy. By leveraging structural segmentation techniques, the module identifies relevant brain regions and visually links them to specific clinical manifestations derived from scientific literature. Utilizing segmentations generated by FreeSurfer, it allows users to select semiological features and automatically associate them with anatomical structures, thereby facilitating the anatomo-semiological analysis of epileptic seizures. This tool provides significant support in the diagnostic process during clinical case discussions, offering a three-dimensional visualization that improves the understanding of symptom–region correlations and supports informed decision-making in the presurgical setting.
