This chapter focuses on climate change mitigation initiatives in Venezuelan agriculture, based on 52 studies published between 2018 and 2025. These studies address two main objectives: (i) reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout modifications of agricultural production processes and (ii) improving carbon sequestration capacity through agroecological practices, such as soil management and agroforestry. The selected studies were classified into 11 strategic groups. The main objective, location, geographic scope, and key findings are presented for each study. The chapter provides an overview of mitigation strategies in their technical, social, legal, and educational dimensions. It examines research on land-use planning based on soil suitability, good agricultural practices such as agroforestry and silvopastoral systems, soil management, and the restoration of degraded soils using geospatial and nuclear technologies. Additionally, it includes studies focused on agroecological sustainability, ecosystem assessment and conservation, environmental education, and the role of legal tools. The collective findings emphasize the urgency of preventing agricultural expansion into fragile, carbon-rich forested ecosystems and adopting practices that foster climate resilience, agricultural productivity, and ecosystem services. The chapter concludes that building a sustainable and climate-smart agricultural sector in Venezuela requires strengthening technical expertise, legal frameworks, and educational initiatives, in line with the country’s international climate commitments.
