Rosemary and Rachel are both Deaf, and notwithstanding their own professional careers as educators, both experienced some of the challenges discussed in earlier chapters of this book at different times in their lives. They reported feelings of frustration because of a lack of respect for their language and Deaf culture; lack of adequate accommodation for communication; isolation; a sense of loneliness; and social and systemic discrimination. They bravely share their experiences to educate others about the challenges they experienced, and the impact of these, but also to discuss the role of support and personal resilience played in paving their way through these challenges.
