‘I used fortunate circumstances … and I did it my way’ (Marion Festing): Narrating an Established Academic Career
摘要
For this chapter, Professor Marion Festing was interviewed. Since 2002, Marion Festing has worked at the ESCP Business School in Berlin, Germany, where she holds the chair of Human Resource Management and Intercultural Leadership. Before becoming—the first female—professor at ESCP Berlin, Ms Festing worked at the University of Paderborn, Germany, where she studied, did her PhD and completed her ‘habilitation’. Considering that Ms Festing entered the occupational field of academia at the beginning of the 1990s and became professor in the early 2000s, she can be seen—and sees herself—as an established senior career scholar. Ms Festing narrates her career trajectory by referring to several metaphors. Among others, she introduces the image of ‘my way’, the notion of ‘fortunate circumstances’, and the idea of ‘something additional and more’ when reflecting on her academic career.
