Hearing Disorders: Overview
摘要
Hearing loss is one of the most prevalent medical conditions, which tends to get worse and more common as people age (Anastasiadou and Al Khalili Y. Hearing loss. [Updated 2023 May 23]. In addition to being highly prevalent in the 70+ age bracket, the afflicted population spans the gamut from newborns to the very old (Zahnert, Dtsch Arztebl Int 108:433–43; quiz 444). A multidisciplinary team consisting of a family doctor, an otolaryngologist, a speech therapist, an audiologist, and a social worker is necessary for the diagnosis and treatment. Accurately treating hearing loss requires knowledge of the condition and the essential tools to enhance auditory reception. To guarantee that children with hearing loss continue to develop generally in hearing and language, pediatricians must be actively involved in their care. The external, middle, and inner ear are the three distinct anatomical components of the ear. The pinna, external auditory canal, and tympanic membrane comprise the outer ear, which transmits sound waves from the outside world.
