Voice Rehabilitation: Overview
摘要
Among the energies that create the universe, our voice is a magnificent tool that distinguishes us as humans. Sound is not just airflow or waves, but it is also energy. The vocal system that creates this energy must work adequately for healthy voice production. All factors that may negatively affect the functioning of this system cause voice disorders and may result in a process that involves the quality of life, from hoarseness to complete loss of voice. Evaluation methods are essential in the diagnosis and diagnostic process of voice disorders. During the evaluation process, the ear, nose, and throat physician and the speech and language therapist jointly evaluate the physiological dimension of the voice disorder and its effects on the patient’s life using objective and subjective evaluation methods. As a result of the evaluation, the size and impact of the lesion causing the voice disorder on the vocal cord is observed, and, if necessary, surgical intervention is applied, or voice therapy is started. Voice therapy is a multidisciplinary approach to evaluating and treating voice disorders by relevant experts. The primary goal of voice therapy is to maintain the health of the vocal cords. Voice production is optimized with voice therapy applied specifically to the patient. However, voice therapy is essential for people with voice disorders and those who use their voices professionally, such as musicians, presenters, and actors.
