The cause of many otolaryngological complaints needs to be better understood. When traditional medicine fails, many people seek out complementary and alternative therapies, which can face their fair share of skepticism, controversy, and a lack of proof. A wide range of practices and therapies about health that are not typically associated with conventional medicine are collectively referred to as complementary and integrative medicine (CIM). Cost, illness type (acute vs. chronic), sex, age, CIM accessibility, public perception of therapy safety and efficacy, cultural backgrounds, failure of conventional medical interventions, dissatisfaction with contemporary health care, and other factors all contribute to CIM utilization. CIM’s effectiveness, safety, and cost-efficiency have not diminished its popularity among patients visiting ENT clinics.
