Ethics and Safety
摘要
This chapter explores the ethical and safety considerations surrounding the use of large language models, which have become increasingly integrated into various aspects of society. We discuss the impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) on education, particularly the challenges they pose to traditional learning methods and the potential for academic misuse. We also examine the issues of social bias, privacy concerns, and the lack of transparency and explainability in LLMs, all of which have significant implications for fairness, trust, and user rights. Furthermore, the legal and regulatory challenges associated with the deployment of LLMs are also discussed, including intellectual property rights and cross-border data compliance. The chapter further highlights the risks of manipulation and abuse, where LLMs can be exploited to spread misinformation and engage in digital fraud. Finally, the environmental impact of LLMs is considered, focusing on the energy consumption involved in their training and deployment. The chapter underscores the need for responsible and sustainable practices in the development and use of LLMs, ensuring that these powerful technologies are aligned with ethical principles and societal values.
