Physical Exercise to Improve Negative Symptoms, Cognitive Deficits, and Levels of Daily-Life Functioning in Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders: Current Evidence and Treatment Recommendations
摘要
In recent years, physical exercise therapies have been proposed as an add-on treatment to achieve additional improvements in people with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD). As indicated by numerous large-scale meta-analyses, physical exercise treatments in SSD lead to improvements in positive, negative, and total symptom severity, as well as cognitive impairment and daily functioning, whereas the impact on physical health is only minimal. This chapter summarizes the current evidence of physical exercise therapies applied in people with SSD and derives practical recommendations for establishing such therapies in the clinical setting.
