Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park
摘要
This chapter presents the physical and human study of Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park, as well as the inventory of its geomorphosites. The Park is located in the provinces of Burgos and Soria and covers an area of 12,244 ha between 951 and 1352 m above sea level. Located in the southern foothills of the Iberian Mountain Range, the dominance of limestone and the associated karst processes explain most of the karstic landforms, both surface (exokarstic, such as dolines and karren) and underground (endokarstic, caves and pits), that dominate the landscape and determine the distribution of ecosystems or human uses that adapt to the geomorphological conditions. It is a complex structural relief defined by the presence of perched synclines, structural lineaments, and hogs back. From a human perspective, the sociodemographic study of the area is presented, analyzing how the declaration of the Natural Park has not been able to stop the depopulation processes. The geotouristic development of the Park is very limited, and the potential of its Natural Heritage has not been fully developed. A total of 14 geomorphosites have been inventoried in the Park, with structural and karstic ones being the most characteristic.
