To address the problems of difficult pre-judgment of power line faults, unrecognized faults, and difficult post-fault location, a power line fault diagnosis scheme based on wavelet transform is proposed. The fault types of 10 kV power line and their impact on the power grid are analyzed. The fault location algorithm was studied, and the power line fault diagnosis process and online monitoring device were designed. The validity and feasibility of the proposed method were verified using a real model. This method can effectively solve the problem of power line fault diagnosis and location in distribution networks. The large-scale application of the developed online monitoring device can significantly improve the safety and stability of distribution networks.
