Spiritualization of the Body and Possible Revelation of Being in Birth Giving Petroglyphs Near Big Bend National Park
摘要
The problem of the separation of the mind and body and their causal relation from Descartes and its “resolution,” philosophically, from Descartes’ suggested pineal gland to Emmanuel Levinas’ “trace” in the face to face encounter with the Other, an encounter which reveals Being and ethics as first philosophy, might be examined in the issue of birth giving in world mythology and so-called rock art, up to and beyond the Neolithic particularly at the birth giving petroglyphs and birth giving cave near Big Bend National Park where birth giving images are supported by protective serpent images, reversing long standing negative Biblical conceptions of gender and birth giving and exposing the spiritual nature of birth giving in an earlier culture and revealing, for us, a possibility of one revelation of Being linked to the experience of infinity.
