The chapter focuses on traditionally marginalized groups globally, Black and Indigenous people of colour, women, sexual, and gender minority (SGM) communities, and people with lower socio-economic status in the context of family violence and the community. Other traditionally marginalized groups, including older adults, rural communities, and SGM populations, are covered separately in depth. The chapter includes a brief history of marginalized groups, the impact of marginalization on persistent health disparities and health inequities, and risk factors for vulnerability synthesized from relevant literature. The vulnerability of marginalized groups and increased risks for violence within the family and community are examined. Implications for healthcare and descriptions of best practices are presented, along with recommendations for professional education, practice, research, and policy. The chapter concludes with a case study providing opportunities to apply knowledge and best practices to care for marginalized populations who experience violence.

摘要
