This chapter delves into the urgent issue of rising crime in Trinidad and Tobago, showcasing valuable insights from the private security sector. The pressing crime situation has spurred a growing reliance on private security services to address the gaps left by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. Drawing on qualitative interviews with leaders from twelve private security companies, this research employs thematic analysis to investigate two critical dimensions: the root causes of crime and the strategies employed to combat it. The findings reveal that crime is a multifaceted challenge influenced by sociological and economic factors as well as the reliability of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. The study underscores the imperative for enhanced collaboration between private security providers and law enforcement agencies to effectively bolster public safety. By addressing the existing knowledge gap regarding the role of private security in crime reduction, this chapter endeavours to pave the way for more effective strategies to combat crime through the lenses and possible collaboration between Private Security Industry and Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
