Development of BRICS Energy Cooperation in the Context of Global Challenges and Threats
摘要
Nowadays BRICS is working steadily to increase practical cooperation in areas that are strategically important for its members. These include strengthening international security, enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, overcoming the digital gap, developing interregional cooperation, and achieving sustainable development and inclusive growth. This shows that the BRICS has become a truly comprehensive partnership based on mutual respect, upholding the principles of sovereignty, international law, and multipolarity. The article examines the current role of BRICS in achieving energy security and energy transition, taking into account global challenges and threats, such as imbalances in the global economy, the post-pandemic period, anti-Russian sanctions, and climate change issues. The article reveals the essence of Russia's three main priorities: global stability, public security, and innovative growth. It analyzes the directions of cooperation in the field of energy stability and concludes that it is necessary to develop an energy research platform and diversify the structure of the fuel and energy balance of the BRICS countries, which will mitigate the effects of probable disruptions in energy supplies. On the basis of the New Development Bank of the BRICS, it is necessary to develop a new format of mutual settlements, to stimulate concessional lending, and to switch to settlements in the national currencies of the BRICS members, which will increase exports and imports. The article examines the principles of implementation of the concept of sustainable development by the BRICS countries in terms of the promotion of renewable energy sources, providing the relevant statistical data.
