This final chapter summarizes and reflects on the main findings of the monograph with a thematic focus on the persistent (or, on several occasions, fluctuating and malleable) impact of: geopolitical concerns; identity politics and ideological prerogatives; more ‘pragmatic’ considerations in active policymaking. In addition to these thematic areas, attention is paid to the trajectories for further research and briefly places the political ramifications of the war in Ukraine into a comparative context with other groundbreaking developments around the globe (for the purposes of this monograph, the war in Gaza).
