The unfolding of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), driven by Large Language Models (LLMs), is disrupting traditional models of teaching, learning, and assessment at all levels of education in ways that no other technology has done in the past. Within this context, this book brings together eleven chapters from prominent researchers investigating the changes in teaching, learning, and assessment with and beyond generative artificial intelligence. These chapters represent a variety of research themes and approaches, offering insights into how GenAI is adopted in different educational practices. Here, we discuss the key themes and tensions that emerge across these chapters, identifying the opportunities and the challenges in this rapidly developing field.
