The article is devoted to the problem of determining the azimuth for the adjustment of inertial navigation systems. It is shown that the currently available geodetic, gyroscopic and astronomical methods do not meet the requirements either in terms of accuracy, or in terms of efficiency or reliability. The authors have proposed a method of determination of the azimuth of direction from radio interferometric observations of bright natural radio sources. The composition of the equipment of the complex, the requirements for it are proposed. An algorithm for determining the azimuth from radio interferometric observations of natural radio sources is proposed. The advantage of bright natural radio sources as reference objects for determining the azimuth is demonstrated.
