The Great Saphenous Vein as a Conduit
摘要
There is strong evidence supporting the advantages of treating the saphenous vein in patients experiencing symptomatic superficial venous insufficiency. However, the saphenous vein is not just a potential source of pathology; it also holds significant value as a potential graft for future vascular surgeries. It is crucial to recognize the nuances and anatomical complexities of venous reflux when determining the appropriate treatment strategy. Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), and concurrent deep venous pathology are among other conditions that warrant special consideration. Preservation of the saphenous vein should not be done at the expense of sacrificing quality of life, but ablation must consider the challenges in the management of high-risk patients.
