Radiology is uniquely positioned to lead the healthcare sector in implementing “new work” principles—such as flexibility, autonomy, collaboration, and purpose—while promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I). As the field faces increasing diagnostic demand, workforce shortages, and shifting expectations, traditional models of work and leadership must be reimagined. This chapter explores how the integration of D&I and new work practices strengthens radiology services across clinical, academic, and organizational dimensions. Framing diversity not only as an ethical imperative but also as a practical necessity, the chapter highlights how inclusive teams are essential to delivering patient-centered care, fostering innovation, and maintaining trust across diverse populations. Radiology’s digital infrastructure, collaborative culture, and early adoption of remote work and AI offer a natural platform for flexible and inclusive career paths. Drawing on examples from Germany and beyond, including the Diversity Network of the German Röntgen Society (DRG), the chapter presents practical strategies to embed D&I in radiological practice. These include workload flexibility, equitable AI implementation, language support, and structured peer exchange. The DRG Network’s experience demonstrates how decentralized, member-led initiatives can foster belonging, elevate underrepresented voices, and create resilient clinical cultures. Ultimately, by aligning the principles of new work with meaningful diversity strategies, radiology can address structural challenges while positioning itself as a forward-looking specialty. This dual approach not only improves staff well-being and retention but also enhances care quality and equity for increasingly diverse patient populations.

摘要
