This chapter describes three values based instructional scaffolds—the ritual of reflective thinking, intentional teaching of values and the ritual of moments of acknowledgements—and illustrates how they assist students to become more caring individuals, about self and others. It also illustrates how they lead to students giving their best effort at school.
