This chapter argues for a reconsideration of the purpose of education, especially the current inappropriateness of common current curriculum arrangements for fitting students for an uncertain future and for dealing with the unprecedented challenges that confront humankind. In particular, it advocates for a values-based approach to education. It contends that Values based Education significantly contributes to students becoming more caring individuals. It also enables them to be better problem solvers, be more adaptable, as well as wiser, more ethical and moral decision makers. Thus, it is better placed to help humankind flourish at this critical juncture in human development than the existing predominant arrangements.

摘要
