Manufacture of Metal Parts as a Service
摘要
The digital transformation of the manufacturing sector is giving rise to new business models, such as Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS). These models combine distributed production, cloud platforms, and intelligent automation to create agile, on-demand manufacturing ecosystems. This article presents MaaSAI (Agile Manufacturing as a Service through AI Autonomous Agents) project [2], a Horizon Europe initiative aimed at redefining the manufacturing ecosystem through an end-to-end digital platform. MaaSAI aims to automate and optimise manufacturing interactions between providers and consumers, reducing barriers for small businesses and fostering more resilient, on-demand production. Additionally, some concepts supported by MaaSAI are implemented in a case study developed in Factor Ingeniería y Decoletaje S.L. (the company), a Spanish SME participating in the European MaaSAI project. The company current outsourcing workflow is analyzed, identifying some drawbacks, and a future scenario is proposed in which all provider interactions are managed through the MaaSAI platform. This would enable real-time monitoring, automated negotiation, proactive quality control, and data-driven provider evaluation. Although adopting MaaSAI requires significant organizational and technological changes, it offers a way to achieve greater operational resilience, scalability, and competitive advantage in the digital age.
