Design of a Sustainable Food Waste Management System for Collaborative Healthcare Facilities
摘要
Healthcare institutions generate significant amounts of food waste, which poses both environmental and operational challenges. This work proposes a shared food waste valorization system for two nearby hospitals. Based on the estimated annual volume of food waste from one hospital, we extrapolate to a joint system serving both facilities. The objective is to assess the amount of energy that can be generated through anaerobic digestion and to size the digestive equipment accordingly. Our approach supports the transition toward greener hospital infrastructure and promotes resource sharing between healthcare entities. The system is designed to be adaptable and scalable, forming the basis for a collaborative and circular healthcare network. This contribution aligns with the goals of Healthcare 4.0 and 5.0 by integrating sustainability, digital modeling, and decision-support elements in the configuration of health infrastructure.
