Constitutive Rhetoric
摘要
This chapter considers the relationship between rhetorical studies and constitutive rhetoric. We explore Adolph Hitler and Nazi Germany as a case study. A constitutive approach to Hitler’s rhetoric offers a broadly synthetic and deeply incisive exploration of the community, character, culture that allowed Hitler to seduce Germany—and Germany to seduce Hitler. I close by exploring the methodological and ethical considerations lit up by constitutive rhetoric relevant for a social and political context marked by the rise of extreme, far-right public discourse.
