This chapter traces counter spaces that have emerged in the form of YouTube podcasting spaces. Drawing on interviews with seven YouTube podcasters, this chapter finds their motivation to nurture debates on counter discourses. It is equally interested in the pressures they face from the establishment, the conservative elements, and the strategies they use to protect themselves. It reflects on the questions of editorial control and the criteria for the common good, the nature of the ‘counter’, inclusivity criteria and the limitations in a given political context.
