This chapter navigates the complex African terrain on the issue of sexuality that has divided opinions within the continent as a whole and within nations. Using keyword search on Scopus indexed academic search engines and content analysis, this chapter attempts to provide an overview of the many issues arising at the intersection of religion and access to healthcare among the community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ). It undertakes an extensive literature review, pointing to these issues across the continent, and it captures the narratives of the LGBTIQ community members obtained from published academic sources. The chapter provides a framework through which issues of sexuality can be understood within the context of religion and healthcare access. This is done in the context of a continent where faith is an integral part of society and healthcare systems are lagging behind.
